Embracing the "Pillars of Character"

 
Participating organizations in Coalition of Greater Greenville
(COGG) have taken the values listed below before their respective boards for approval.  These businesses, organizations and individuals agree that individually and in our corporate lives, we are committed to the following pillars of character to strengthen our community.

Trustworthiness:
  • We do what we say we will do.
  • We take ownership of our actions & decisions, admitting our mistakes 
  • We stand up for what is right regardless of the personal cost.
  • We are honest and ethical in all dealings.
  • We do not tolerate lying, stealing, or deception.
  • We practice integrity in everything we do.
Respect:
  • We treat every individual with dignity and compassion, being kind with words & action.
  • We do not gossip.
  • We are committed to open, honest, and respectful communication.
  • When conflicts arise, we communicate only with those directly involved and we listen to and consider all sides without prejudice. We keep our attitude focused on positive, constructive solutions.
Responsibility:
  • We are partners and believe it is our responsibility to build lasting relationships.
  • We work diligently to find innovative ways to cooperate and solve problems.
  • We are accountable for our motives and actions.
  • We exercise self-control and self-discipline and do not act out of anger, revenge, or fear.
  • We are not afraid to take risks and keep an open mind to new and creative ideas.
  • We set clear and realistic goals and persevere until we succeed.
Fairness:
  • We believe in the Golden Rule; we treat others as we want to be treated
  • We are open-minded and value the unique contributions of al individuals
  • We recognize diversity as an asset to any endeavor.
  • We are committed to each other by openly sharing information, providing feedback, and actively listening to one another.
  • We make decisions without favoritism or prejudice.
Caring:
  • We are empathetic and do not take the needs of others for granted.
  • We strive to see the good in each other and those we serve.
  • We actively support and encourage one another and forgive mistakes.
  • We are thankful and express gratitude for the goodness in our lives and in our community.
  • We are charitable and altruistic; we give our time, money, support and comfort for the sake of making someone else’s life better.
