 The City has a Council-Manager form of government.  Here’s how it works:

  • Seven council members elected by residents. 
  • Mayor is elected by City Council for a one-year term as the head of the City Council. 
  • City Council establishes the budget, policies and ordinances that govern the City.
  • The City Manager is appointed by City Council to manage City operations. 
  • Through City staff, the Manager implements the budget and policies of the City Council.
